The weather got in the way on Friday and Saturday, but not on Sunday! For the first time this year, Philadelphia's Breast Cancer 3-Day got reduced to a one-day event because of the wet and windy weather.

A dedicated group of 3-Day walkers weren't going to let a little Nor'easter dampen their plans to complete a 60-mile walk for the cure. "We didn't train and fundraise for months and months to not walk 60 miles this weekend," said Patricia Ferriola, a breast cancer survivor from Jackson, N.J.

Mother Nature is forcing the organizers of the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk to scale it back to one day. It's the first time the events been modified so drastically. The national spokesperson for Breast Cancer 3-Day, Jenne Fromm told CBS3, "Safety is really our top concern and we can't in good conscience allow our participants to be out walking."

The arrival of two Nor'easters has caused set backs for the highly anticipated Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day event. According to event organizers the opening ceremonies, scheduled for Friday morning at 7 a.m. at Willow Grove Park Mall and the first day of walking have been cancelled.

LIGHTS FOR THE CUREä, the local campaign begun in 2002 by CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and the Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to raise awareness about breast cancer, will light up the skyline again this October as more than 100 buildings and landmarks in three states will participate in the campaign. Businesses and landmarks in the Philadelphia area, the Lehigh Valley, New Jersey and Delaware will turn the skyline pink for the eighth year in a row in an effort to encourage women to schedule a mammogram.
