Race For The Cure Leaves Thousands Inspired

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Cancer survivors made their way down the Art Museum steps to mark an emotional journal against breast cancer Sunday morning.

The even started at 7 a.m. and CBS3 Eyewitness News and CBS3.com were  there throughout the day with extensive coverage.

The weather was perfect for the special day as family and friends donned in pink came together to celebrate the fight and to celebrate life.

The Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure attracts approximately 45,000 participants, over 95 local corporate sponsors, more than 20 local healthcare sponsors, and in 2007 raised over $3.5 million.

The Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, established in 2001, serves the 13 counties of  Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware,Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and York in Pennsylvania; Kent, New Castle, and Sussex in Delaware; and Camden County in New Jersey.
