Comprehensive Center To Aid Breast Cancer Patients
by Lesley Van Arsdall
LANGHORNE (CBS 3) ―
Patients battling breast cancer need every advantage as they fight for their health, and their life.
CBS 3's Lesley Van Arsdall reports a Bucks County doctor is helping the women in her care, by making all the appointments a little easier to manage.
Ask any of her patients and they'll tell you Dr. Beth Dupree is not your typical doctor. .
"When I was first diagnosed she gave me a heart which she made," said patient Maura Duggan.
In her work, Dr. Dupree always put her patients first, dedicating her life's work to helping those with breast cancer. After seeing and hearing how hard it was for patients to commute to different sites in such a weary state she knew something had to be done .
"When you are going through this you don't need to deal with all the details, it's so overwhelming," said Sue Fagnani.
"There's the annual screening which is done at one facility. If you need a biopsy you go to another," said Dr. Beth Dupree of St. Mary Medical Center. "Then if you are diagnosed with cancer, you see one surgeon at one place, a plastic surgeon at another.
To make the road to recovery easier, the idea behind the first ever comprehensive breast health center was born.
"To provide comprehensive breast health care, not just for cancer patients, but for those who are benign they need to know they are ok as well," said Dr. Dupree.
The site is still under construction, but Dr. Durpree hopes to have it finished by fall.
"To be able to make the process easier for women. That's the big deal," said Dr. Dupree.
