Doug Kammerer
Meteorologist Doug Kammerer joined CBS 3's Eyewitness News Weather team in August, 2007. He made his on-air debut with the station in February, 2008. In addition to teaming up with Meteorologist Kathy Orr on the 4 and 6 p.m. weekday newscasts, Kammerer is the meteorologist for CBS 3's Sunday evening newscasts as well.
Kammerer is one weathercaster who loves to brave the elements. An accomplished athlete, he has trekked to the top of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, the site of the "worst weather in the world," ventured downhill with the ski patrol at Big Boulder and participated in a Winter Polar Bear plunge at the Jersey shore since joining the station. In addition to skiing (both snow and water), he plays baseball, football and tennis among other sports.
Before joining CBS 3, Kammerer was the 5 p.m. meteorologist for WCAU-TV, the NBC station in Philadelphia. He also was the weekday meteorologist for WPHL-TV as part of a partnership with the NBC station. While at NBC, Kammerer was tapped by the network in 2004 to report on Hurricanes Francis and Ivan in Florida for its stations.
Before making his home in Philadelphia, Kammerer was the morning co-host and meteorologist at WOFL-TV in Orlando, Florida. He also worked at WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Florida, as weekend meteorologist and weekend morning show co-host. He began his broadcasting career at WGXA-TV in Macon, Georgia, where he was both a meteorologist and morning show co-host.
A native of Washington, D.C., Kammerer earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. He is an active member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and holds the AMS Seal of Approval. Kammerer also holds the new CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist) Seal from the AMS, considered the gold standard of accreditation in his field.
Kammerer, his wife, Holly, and their son reside in Center City Philadelphia.
