Horses Injured In Devastating Berks Co. Barn Fire

Several horses were injured during a massive fire at an Oley Township equestrian center on July 9.

Several horses were injured, including one critically, during a massive fire that devastated a Berks County barn Thursday night.
Firefighters were called to the Pink Star Equestrian Center on the 6000 block of Oley Turnpike Road in Oley Township after reports of heavy flames at about 11:30 p.m.
Officials said 35 horses were rescued from the burning, 50-stall commercial barn. Four horses were injured during the fire. One of the injured horses was rushed to the New Bolton Center in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported.
Crews brought the fire under control by 2 a.m., but firefighters remained at the scene to douse smoldering portions of the complex.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
