Foul Play Not Suspected In A.C. Death

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Police do not suspect foul play in the death of a woman whose nude body was found in the surf of Atlantic City early Wednesday.

Authorities said the gruesome discovery was made near Florida Avenue and the Boardwalk at about 2:30 a.m.

A couple visiting from out of town apparently spotted the victim's body in the water. Police said the couple tried to pull the body from the water while police rushed to the scene.

Police said victim was identified as a 25-year-old Patrita D. Lee of Philadelphia.

She was nude when her body was found and wet clothing and a purse were found near the scene.

"There didn't appear to be any obvious signs of trauma to the body," said Sgt. Monica McMenamin with the Atlantic City Police Department. "The identification in her purse was from a Philadelphia address.

An autopsy confirmed the cause of death as drowning. A toxicology report is pending.

The incident remains under investigation.
