Good Samaritan Rescues Stranded Sailor

A Good Samaritan is being called a hero after rescuing a man from a capsized boat south of the Ship Channel Bridge near Somers Point on Wednesday.
The New Jersey Coast Guard received a distress call around 12:30 p.m. reporting of a person stranded in the water holding onto an overturned sailboat.
The Good Samaritan, who has not yet been identified, was aboard another boat and rescued the man from the water before alerting the Coast Guard.
"He was wearing a life jacket and was in the water for about 15 minutes before he was rescued by a Good Samaritan," said Seaman Brendan Loerch, a crewman from the Coast Guard station in Great Egg, N.J.
The overturned sailboat was towed to the City Yacht Club in Ocean City, N.J. by a rescue boat from the Station Great Egg Coast Guard.
