Camden Teen Critical After Nearly Drowning In A.C.

ATLANTIC CITY (CBS 3) ― A 13-year-old from Camden is in critical condition at Children's Hospital after he and his brother nearly drowned in Atlantic City Sunday evening.

The teen and his brother, 16, were swimming in Atlantic City after lifeguards left the beaches around 6:30 p.m.

The boys reportedly were pulled out to sea as the surf conditions were considered dangerous.

The boy's uncles attempted to rescue them, but were unsuccessful. Police were summoned to the scene and rescued the struggling teens.

The 13-year-old was pulled from the water unconscious and officers performed CPR on the victim before he was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. He was later airlifted to Children's Hospital.

The 16-year-old was also transported to Children's Hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.
