United 93 Film Thoughts
The recent release of the movie, United 93, has stirred up some strong emotions and controversies. Some believe it is too soon, while others believe it is a film that needs to be shown. CBS3.com has created this section so you can voice your concerns and share your thoughts about the movie.
Elaine GibersonAny patriotic American MUST see this film. I was really moved. My emotions ranged from mad to sad. It depicts the chaos that surrounded the attack that day from air traffic controllers to the military. It gave you a sense of what the passengers went through on the plane, and showed true American Heros! They covered the events of 9-11, and ended the film without trying to make up an ending. I wanted to jump into the screen and help! I do not feel that this film came out too soon...it is long over due! The film definately gets kudos from me, and I hope that they recieve awards for this fine piece. I wish I could personally thank all of the family members of the passengers of flight 93 for allowing this film to be made. This was one of the best films I have seen in a long time.
Tara Flynn I tend to agree with Tom Selleck's remarks that we should not put our heads in the sand about events such as 9/11. Despite Mr. Bush's efforts to make it otherwise, this is still a country of freedoms - freedom of the press allows the making and airing of this movie; freedom of choice allows those who are not ready for it to choose not to view it.
Sue Baumen During WWII there were movie reels showing real life actions during the fighting in Europe and the Pacific battles. Not long after the war ended the movies came out describing in detail what had happened. There was even one movie that depicted the return of a veteran who lost his hands in battle and how he and his wife adjusted to this that came out shortly after the war ended. I cannot remember who said it but I believe this quote to be true
.."If we are to not repeat the horrors of this war then we must remember what has happened and continue to tell of these horrors so that another one does not occur. Only then can we hope to improve humanity."
The attacks on New York and Washington D.C. and these brave people on United 93 must not happen again and with tastefully done movies like United 93 we have a way of retelling what happened that unforgettable day
.9-11-01
.and that the meaning of patriotism was rekindled with the actions of the flight crew and passengers on this plane.
Debi Marcucci Ignorance is why we were successfully attacked in the first place. It is imperative that all Americans see this film--a very vivid emotional reminder of that which should have Never occurred !
Tommy Pagliaro Jr. As a Newark based United Airlines Flight Attendant, I was deeply moved by the heroic efforts of my fellow co-workers and passengers as depicted in "United 93." Yes, It was painful watching the horrific events of 9/11 unfold at my local theater. Some people would have us forget the heavy price that has been paid so that we can live in comfort and security. Hopefully, this movie will remind us all of the human cost that has been paid for our safety and freedom. May God continue to bless America and all who defend her.
Rick I think I would want to see this movie but it was so hard liveing it when it happend I cant do it again. I cant forget and wont ever forget. I was on break at work at 9:15 that morning and heard on every radio station and I first thought it was a joke. When I found out a few seconds later it wasnt I was scared I looked up. then I cryed but was 25 at the time and held back because guys at work would laugh. I called my mom just to say I love you. I remember all of it. I think it is to soon but I do think all the kids killing each other and all that they should watch it. its a real wake up call for eveyone. but no I cant live it again.
Mae I don't understand what the big deal is about this movie. This is not new. It's the third movie about flight 93. How is this one different?
Christine I think that it would be a very good idea for EVERYONE to see this movie. We all need to be reminded, once in awhile, of what happened so that we can remember to appreciate what we have and what others have lost.
Christine I will never go see this movie! The heartbreak and devastation of seeing what happened on 9/11 with the twin towers is heart wrenching enough. I would never want to see the heroes of 9/11 die again in the manner they did. I find it extremely disconcerting that someone would produce a movie that will put salt in wounds that will never heal! That day will be embedded in the minds of so many for so long with devastating effects that are unforgettable. No one wants to relive that day. It is too soon. It will always be too soon!!
Vicki I have not yet decided if this movie is too soon or not.....but I will probably not go see it because I don't think people should be profitting from this horrible day in American history!
No Name I always felt that the movie was inappropriate but more so when I saw a viewer emailing in saying that it would keep us reminded of what happened on that dreaded day 911. I don't believe anyone in the USA especially will ever forget that day, so much destruction of human nature has ever happened here in the USA especially involving another country.
Let's not forget but over come this tragedy!!!
No Name I won't go to the movies to see this film, but I will get it when it comes on pay-per-view. I don't feel it is exploitation, if the families agree. But it is like a car accident, you don't want to look, but you have to. Also, I think it will leave an impression of what those poor folks went through that day.
