9/11 Vigil Held At La Salle University

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Americans were deeply affected by the attacks and many of those feelings are intense, even five years later.

Five years after September 11th, we have re-built some of the structures attacked and ourselves and life has resumed.

However, the images have changed but the emotions have not.

"It was scary then and it is scary now," said a tourist visiting in Philadelphia.

As the sun set over Independence Hall, on a crisp day much like September 11th, CBS 3 went to the place where democracy was first born to get a sense of how people are coping five years after the attacks.

"I was really sad, I felt like I did the day it happened, I remember still like it was yesterday," were some of the comments from tourists around Independence Hall.

However, people agree it's important to look back; so that we can understand how to move ahead.

The Liberty Bell reminds people about why we stand tall as Americans.

Across town, there was another reminder of what it means to be an American.

At La Salle University, a candle light vigil was held in memory of the victims of the September 11th attacks.

The students as well as other residents not only prayer for the souls lost in the attacks but also for the troops that are protecting our freedom.
