Willingboro Man's 9/11 Feelings Still Linger

WILLINGBORO, N.J. (CBS 3) ― Feelings run painfully deep for those who lost loved ones on September 11th.

For Peter Griffith of Willingboro, New Jersey, the loss of his wife, Joan has tested his faith in God.

CBS 3's Robin Rieger shows us how he copes, one day at a time.

"All I need is something to bring me back to that day and the time hasn't really gone," explains Peter Griffith.

Joan Griffith worked as an office manager in the South Tower.

"I knew my wife had died because the between the time I spoke to her and the time that building feel there was no way she was getting down those flight of stairs especially she was at the 97th floor," said Peter.

For Peter, five years later the wounds are still fresh. The worst times Peter says are what should be times where he should have been overjoyed; like the wedding of their oldest daughter and the birth of their first grandchild.

Peter has never marked the anniversary of 9/11 at Ground Zero saying his wife still lives in his heart, a heart that still needs time to heal.
