Bucks County Honors 9/11 Victims

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS 3) ― Bucks County lost 11 residents during the September 11th attacks. On the eighth anniversary of the tragic attacks, each life lost was remembered and mourned Friday.

In Doylestown, a 9/11 Heroes Run was held and the proceeds will be donated to the Travis Manion foundation which assists military, wounded veterans and families of fallen heroes.

The foundation was established in memory of 1st Lt. Travis L. Manion, USMC. Lt. Manion was killed in Iraq in 2007.

Lt. Manion's father ran in the race and wore a hat his son received from firefighters after his first tour in Iraq.

"They gave him the hat and he gave me the hat that day and pointed to the back and he said to me 'it says 9/11, Never Forget' and he said 'wear this when I'm gone and know that's why we're over there doing what we're doing,'" Tom Manion said.

Following the race, many residents paid their respects at a permanent memorial that honors all of the local heroes who lost their lives on 9/11.

In a separate ceremony Friday, residents attended a memorial at the "Garden Of Reflection" in Yardley, Bucks County.
